Holiday Solid Waste Collection Schedule Changes
Don’t forget to put out your garbage on these alternate holiday collection dates: Garbage normally collected on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, will be collected on Thursday December 24 and garbage normally collected on New Year’s Day, Friday January 1, 2021, will be collected on Monday January 4, 2021.
We have already posted the 2021 solid waste collection schedule on our website. Check it out here. Keep the schedule handy so you don’t miss out on your alternate collection dates throughout the year!

Contacting City Hall
City Hall is opened with several health and safety measures in place. Masks are required inside City Hall and at all indoor public places. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and we will only be open for payments of utility bills, property tax, license fees, permit fees, and transit passes. Stay home if you are sick and leave children and pets at home if possible. Beginning Sunday, December 27, the Peak to Platzl downtown shuttle will begin service. The shuttle is a FREE scheduled service between the ski resort base area, the upper-mountain accommodations and the downtown shops, pubs and restaurants. The shuttle service operates every day from December 27 until closing weekend of the ski season. On weekdays, for $6 return trip from Cranbrook, you can catch the KC Commuter bus for a worry free day on the slopes! For more information, please visit the city’s website. Several safety measures are in place to protect against the COVID-19 virus. Don’t forget to wear your mask in line while waiting for the bus and on the bus!
2021 Business Licenses
The city kindly requests that Business Licenses be renewed and paid for before January 31, 2021 Application forms for new businesses are available at City Hall or on the city’s web site. With our Inter-Community Business Licenses, Mobile businesses can operate in Kimberley and Cranbrook without having to apply for businesses licenses from both municipalities. 2021 Pet Licenses
2021 dog licenses are now on sale at City Hall. The cost for a spayed or neutered dog license is $23 and $57.50 for an unaltered dog license. The fines for an unlicensed dog are as follows: $100 for the first offence, and $200 for each subsequent offence. Please help our Animal Control Officer make sure your pet gets home without a trip to the SPCA, and license your dog today!
Public Skating at the Civic Centre
The schedule is available on the City of Kimberley website and social media sites for public skating. There are many times available to hit the ice with your family. Please keep these health and safety measures in place that will ensure the continued offering of public skating!
- Masks are mandatory in the building and on the ice surface during public skating;
- The west doors of the Civic Centre will be the only entry point for all public skating participants. The east doors are to be used for exit only;
- Entry time for skating is 15 minutes prior to public skating start time;
- Doors will be locked once the participants have entered at the public skating start time. (They will open from the inside.)
- All participants must sign in for contact tracing;
- No spectators allowed in the building;
- Chairs are set up six feet apart at south end of building to allow participants to put on skates.
