Notes from City Hall
Property Tax Deadline
Property Tax Notices have been mailed to all City of Kimberley property owners on record. The deadline for payment of your 2018 property taxes is July 3, 2018 at 4:45 p.m., after which time a 10% penalty will be added to any unpaid current year taxes. If you haven’t received your Tax Notice by the end of May, please contact City Hall at 250-427-5311 or [email protected] and request that a copy be forwarded to you.
Payment of your property taxes can be made by mail, in person at City Hall, by phone or Internet banking, or in person through most financial institutions. Cheques postdated to July 3, will be accepted at City Hall in advance of the deadline. If paying by mail or electronic methods, please allow time for your payment to arrive by the deadline. Post marks on mailed remittances will not be considered as date of payment. Receipt of electronic payments will be recorded as of the date and time the funds are posted to the city’s bank account and not when the payment is transmitted by your financial institution.
Please remember to either complete the Home Owner Grant application that is attached to the bottom of the Tax Notice and remit it to City Hall, or complete the online application to claim the Grant. A 10% penalty will apply to Home Owner Grant amounts not claimed by the July 3, Property Tax deadline.
The City of Kimberley 2017 Annual Report is now available for public inspection! The report will go to council for adoption at the Regular Meeting scheduled at City Hall on June 25 at 7 p.m. We welcome any comments or suggestions from the public prior to that date. If needed, paper copies are available from the front desk at City Hall or you can view it on our website.

Please Watch for Protective Female Deer (Does) Around the City
The Animal Control/Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responding by placing signboards in neighbourhoods to warn of deer in the area. Please respect their space, stay back 15 to 20 metres, and do not approach. They will often leave their fawn from time to time in search of food; please do not feed the fawn or attempt to remove, touch or pick up the fawn for fear of abandonment.
To learn more about what to do if you encounter deer, please visit the city’s website.
Mosquito Control
Mosquitos need water to complete their life cycle.
You can help reduce mosquito populations around your home by following these tips:
- Remove discarded containers from your property;
- Replace water in bird baths and livestock troughs regularly;
- Clean clogged eaves troughs, drain pipes, and ditches;
- Store boats, canoes or other objects so that they do not collect rain water.
