How prepared are you for a disaster or emergency?
The City of Kimberley is conducting a community survey to assess the level of preparedness of Kimberley residents in the event of a disaster or emergency situation.
Severe weather, floods and wildfires are just some of the potential hazards in British Columbia. During an emergency situation, phone, gas, electrical and water services may be disrupted. Roads could be blocked, stores closed and gas stations out-of-service. You and your family could be on your own for several days while emergency responders work to save lives and manage the aftermath. It may be weeks before infrastructure, utilities and essential services are fully restored.

“Communities everywhere are experiencing unusual and severe weather,” said Mayor Don McCormick. “Being prepared is essential for keeping safe in the event of a disaster and all of us have a role to play in making a resilient community.”
Rick Prasad, Deputy Fire Chief and Emergency Program Coordinator, added, “this survey will help us to understand the level of preparedness in our community and to develop action plans to prepare for potential future emergencies.”
The survey can be accessed at the City of Kimberley website www.Kimberley.ca between January 31 and February 13.
Paper copies are available at City Hall, 340 Spokane Street, if you are unable to access the online survey.
