Seedy Saturday returning March 10

Even as they lie beneath over a metre of snow, many of us are thinking longingly of our gardens.

In fact, it’s never too early to garden plan! Seedy Saturdays have served as opportunities for gardeners to gather in the off-season, share methods and swap seed the world over for many years running. Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook and partner Kimberley Public Library are proud to host this year’s Seedy Saturday in Kimberley on March 10.

Growing in a mountain climate can be challenging, and there are resources available to make things easier for new and experienced gardeners alike.

At this Seedy Saturday, learn from seasoned grower Chris Vassallo of the Kimberley Edible Gardens Group, who will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips. Browse and borrow from the Kimberley Seed Library, a collection of proven successful varietals offered by Kimberley gardeners. For children young and old, there will be an opportunity to craft and take home seed bombs for planting anywhere and anytime.

Seedy Saturday is a free event, open to all members of the public. The event will take place between noon and 4 p.m. in the Kimberley Public Library’s front foyer. Join Wildsight and partners in learning to grow your own food a little bit easier.

(Free Admission; seed donations accepted for the Kimberley Seed Bank.)
