The perfect way to close out the ski season

By Krista Nebloch

Kimberley Alpine Resort’s Annual Spring Splash and Dummy Downhill closed out the ski season in style April 6/7, even if the weather was a bit of a mixed bag.  If you did not like the weather you just had to wait, as it seemed to change every five minutes!  Sun, rain, sleet, fog and snow could not dampen the high spirits on Kimberley’s ski hill.

The Splashers were brave and exciting to watch as they tried to ski or snowboard across the ice cold pond and not fall in.

The Dummies were extremely creative this year as they flew off the ski jump to crash at the bottom, hopefully on or near the target.

The googly-eyed rig Miss Cranbrook was the clear winner this year, as it was the only one to hit the target.

Besides the headliner events, family fun included snow volleyball, a treasure hunt, a fishing pond for the kids, family slalom races and of course skiing – all set to the soundtrack of some really great live bands from Cranbrook’s Heather Gemmel, The Good Ol’ Goats and Shred Kelly. Dancing and frolicking ensued and a good time was had by all. It was the perfect way to close out the ski season.

Thank You Kimberely Alpine Resort for the best winter of my life!
