A beautiful day for a Gran Fondo
About 360 cyclists of all abilities enjoyed a brilliant day of riding Saturday, Sept. 12 during the third annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo.
Hosted by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club and centred at St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino, where the race began and concluded, the day was blessed with sparkling, sunny and deep blue skies.
Riders made their way to Kimberley via the NorthStar Rails-to-Trails, where the Gran Fondo participants continued on to Wasa, Fort Steele, Kootenay Trout Hatchery and back along the Ft. Steele-Wardner Road to Highway 3 and further to Cranbrook and back to the resort.
Riders in two shorter events returned back to St. Eugene along the Rails-to-Trails.
