Air time in Fernie
Fernie’s Bike Park, adjacent to the city’s Aquatic Centre, is a beehive of activity this summer.
Adding to the park’s appeal August 20 was the Camp of Champions, with an inflatable cushion, similar to a Hollywood stunt jumper’s landing bag, which young and not-so-young riders made the most of, some gaining serious air before crashing down into the bag.
In the background, the many bumpy routes, for cyclists barely finding their balance to experienced air-riders, were also humming with activity, lines forming at the centre of the park.
This was a scene that the Cranbrook Bike Skills Park Society would like City of Cranbrook council, administration and residents to see.
The park society approached the city last week with an idea for a bike skills park beside the Skateboard Park.
