Cranbrook Rodeo still a rootin’ tootin’ good time

The 26th annual Cranbrook Rodeo held last weekend (August 17-19) at the Wycliffe Exhibition Grounds was another eye-popping display of man trying to tame beast and beast usually reminding man that beast is bigger.

The rodeo ran Friday and Saturday evenings and all day on championship Sunday, with Saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, ladies’ barrel racing and steer riding. The annual dance followed the hot and dusty action on Saturday. In addition, Trick Rider Shelby Cummings, from Fort Steele, made her 10th straight appearance at the rodeo, providing thrilling stunt-riding routines.

Included in our photo presentation is a series (images crbb to crdd) depicting a bareback rider being taken for a hellacious ride, his hand stuck in the lone binding they’re allowed to hold on to.

Check out the images in the series (images crff to crh) of a bareback rider being knocked silly by his fire-eyed mount. Check out the eyes on the horse in image crff! Climb aboard tenderfoot!
