Dynamiters’ Jaden Rusznak KIJHL forward of the week

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Stars of the Week for the period ending March 22.

Forward – Jaden Rusznak – Kimberley Dynamiters

The Okotoks, Alta., native put up three goals and seven points in the opening two games of their series against the Fernie Ghostriders. Rusznak set up both winning goals and scored on the power-play. He’s been excellent defensively with +7 rating and wasn’t on the ice for any goals against playing an average of 16:44 a game.

Defenceman – Ryan Neufeld – Beaver Valley Nitehawks

Neufeld made an impact by collecting five assists in the opening two games of their series against the Grand Forks Border Bruins. In Game 1, the Lethbridge, Alta., native had two assists, including setting up the first goal in a 4-1 win. In Game 2, he had a three-assist night and set up the winning goal in a 7-1 victory. Neufeld was strong defensively with a +4 rating and played an average of 21:13 a game.

Goalie – Gibson Horne – Princeton Posse

Horne was excellent in their Game 7 win over the Kelowna Chiefs making 36 saves and posting a .923 save percentage. The Lac Des Arcs, Alta., native continued his excellent play between the pipes to help the Posse take a 2-0 series lead against the Revelstoke Grizzlies. In Game 2 against the Grizzlies, Horne made 44 saves in a 3-2 win posting a .957 SP. Over the three games, Horne stopped 117 of 124 shots for a 2.34 GAA and a .944 SP.
