Winter has arrived in the Elk Valley, as well as elsewhere in the region, this week – which is perfect timing as the 16th annual Wilderness Classic Sled Dog Derby Jan. 20-22.

This year three dog sledding organizations are teaming up to make the Elkford event even more interesting for mushers and onlookers.

Elkford’s Wilderness Classic Sled Dog Derby, Didsbury, Alta.’s Rosebud Run Sleddog Classic Kimberley’s Bootleg Sled Dog Races are combining to make the weekend more challenging and potentially more lucrative for entrants, as three races and prizes will be available.
