Nitros’s forward Coutu on KIJHL Team of the Week
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Feb. 8.
Forwards
Carter Coutu – Kimberley Dynamiters
The Edmonton native was clutch in their weekend series against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, scoring the winning goal in both games. He had three goals and five points, while playing an average of 15:08 a game and was +3. Coutu’s 1.69 points per game average in 16 games played leads the team.
Lynden Donald-Gorman – Quesnel River Rush
The Edmonton native had three goals and six points in three games helping the River Rush win two of its three games in the Kootenay’s. He scored the insurance goal in a 6-3 win over the Castlegar Rebels and put up two points in their 4-3 overtime loss to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
Deegan Sellers – Spokane Braves
The Broomfield, Col., native had two goals and five points in two games. In their 3-2 win over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Sellers scored to get them back even after trailing 2-0. Against the Williams Lake Mustangs, he netted the winner and had two assists. He was +4 over the two games playing an average of 20:13 a game.
Defence
Maddox DePasquale – Golden Rockets
DePasquale had two points in two games, and set up Hayden Iron Shirt’s overtime winner against the Nelson Leafs in a 4-3 final. He was +2 and played an average of 22:27 a game.
Maddox Popke – Revelstoke Grizzlies
The St. Albert, Alta., native netted the winner and added an assist while going +3 in their 5-0 win against the 100 Mile House Wranglers. Popke played 17:28 in the game.
Goalie
Stanislav Stefaniv – Chase Heat
Stefaniv earned his first KIJHL shutout in a 33-save performance against the Osoyoos Coyotes, helping his team earn a 4-0 win on Feb. 6. He made 24 saves combined in the second and third period.
