Spring Honda Fun Run returns June 1
If you have ever contemplated running a five or 10-km race then have we got the solution for you!
There is nothing like the experience of setting a goal to run a race and crossing the finish line –with a local race right here in your community, here is your chance!
The fourth annual Spring Honda Fun Run is fast approaching and registration is now open.
You have the choice of entering the five-km walk (not timed), five-km run or the 10-k run. The race will be held this year on Sunday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at our new location in Cranbrook’s Moir Park.

The race route is brand new this year, leaving from scenic Moir Park to the NorthStar Rails to Trails. The five-km will turn around through a quiet rural route, and the 10-k will cover 2.5 km on the beautiful trail. We welcome competitive runners, as well as those who are out to run for the first time, and everyone in between.
There are two challenges this year. First, the School Challenge where the school with the highest percentage of participation will be awarded a trophy and $300. And second, the Corporate Challenge, where the team’s top four combined times (in the same category) could win you bragging rights and a trophy to display at your workplace!
We will have the Kiddies Race again this year, which was very popular last year! For just a twoonie entry fee, young runners (eight and under), can run a lap around the field for a chance to win some great prizes. Start time for the Kiddies Race is 9 a.m. (no pre-registration required). We really hope families will come and enjoy this great event together and fun day of fitness and fresh air all while supporting a great cause.
For those who are running to reach their personal best times, we have chip timing available once again provided by Results Canada, which allows for accurate timing and instant results! Medals will be awarded to the top male and female in each age category.
All proceeds from this event go to the ALS Society of BC. ALS (formerly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that causes those with the disease to lose the use of voluntary muscles. There is no known cure for ALS. All money raised through our run will help those afflicted by this disease, purchase equipment to aid them in coping with this condition, as well as support essential research.
We have donated over $20,000 to the BC ALS Society over the last three years, and we are looking very forward to adding to that total this year.
We are so thankful to all the runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters of our local fun run, and we look forward to seeing a great turnout again this year! Very special thanks to our wonderful title sponsor, Spring Honda for their generous support to help make this event so successful every year. You don’t want to miss out on this fun, local, family event.
Registration is available in person at Core Fitness, and Spring Honda.
