Swanny helps Ice trio in bid for star

Being leaders on the ice is one thing, but for many of the Kootenay Ice players it is the ‘leading by example out in the community’ that can, and does make an impact.  Case-in-point is the desire for players Drew Czerwonka, Max Reinhart and Jesse Ismond to raise $5,000 to light their star as part of East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s annual Starlite Campaign.

The trio was recently recognized for their efforts with a $500 donation to the Drew-Max-Jesse star by Cranbrook businessman Kurt Swanson and his two sons Kaden and Tanner.

“Having the photo taken at center ice with my boys and Max, Jesse and Drew was fabulous. It gave me the chance to share with my children the importance of sports and being a part of the community,” Swanson said.

The Swanson family thank you is helping the three towards their wish of raising funds for EKFH’s $1 million digital stereotactic mammography unit (current donations of just over $551,000).  Donations for the player’s star is just over half-way to the $5,000 goal.

To help Drew, Max and Jesse in giving back to their community and the regional hospital, please consider helping light their star with a donation to the Starlite Campaign (www.ekfh.ca) or at the Kootenay Ice office.
