A Mosaic of love for a country

Happy 145th birthday Canada!

Throughout the East Kootenay over the Canada Day long weekend, communities celebrated our nation’s birthday in style, though some may have been wearing hip-waders.

From fireworks spectacles, such as those in Invermere and Cranbrook, to community parties and countless backyard barbecue extravaganzas, Canada was celebrated with love and passion.

As Canada is a true mosaic of cultures and ideas, e-KNOW thought a fitting spot to capture images of a celebration of this nation was Invermere’s Mountain Mosaic Festival of the Arts, held on the lovely Pynelogs Cultural Centre grounds.

Adjacent to a flooded Kinsmen Beach, packed with long weekenders, the festival was a perfect ‘carry on’ of Invermere’s Canada Day Parade and celebrations. Hundreds of red and white bedecked people flowed down from main street to the lakeside park and centre to take part in a myriad of activities and sights and sounds presented by the Columbia Valley Arts Council.

The following is our photo tour of the festival. Please click on an image to enlarge and to begin a self-directed slide show.
