August in the East Kootenay ‘13

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair…”

Charles Dickens’ famous opening line to A Tale of Two Cities appropriately sums up our August.

The always willing and eager shooter in me bolted in August – suppressed by life being life. It was a dry depression of shutters.

However, thanks to Carrie’s seemingly endless reservoir of positivity and calm, we weathered 8/13 and like the strangely off-time blooming lilac in her recently departed mother’s garden in late August (lead image), the stirrings of the inner shooter returned with September’s welcome even keel.
