Christmas personified at Fort Steele
The Christmas season was brilliantly personified in Fort Steele Heritage Town on Saturday, Dec. 29.
As a steady, light snow fell and temperatures stayed at about -5C, families from near and far took part in Fort Steele’s annual free sleigh ride day.
A good number of hardy souls, bundled up to deal with the elements, toured the heritage site, enjoying lunch at the International Hotel or having hot apple cider and cookies at the Lambi House, and many warmed up at Wild Horse Theatre to hear the Christmas sounds of the annual Holiday Tuba Fest.
The strains of six tuba players tucking into Christmas carols drifting from the lovely old theatre, blending with the sounds of children playing in the snow or by the warming fire for people waiting their turn for a sleigh ride, provided for a wonderful Rockwellian mood.
