Coal Miner Days three event packed days
Sparwood’s biggest party of the year returns June 7-9 with Coal Miner Days.
The fun begins Friday, June 7 with a hot dog barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RBC and runs through to the Fire in the Sky fireworks show, courtesy Sparwood Fire Department, beginning at 11 p.m. at the soccer field behind the Rec Centre.
The always hilarious Bed Races (pictured above) begin at 6 p.m. in the Curling Rink parking lot.
The Lions’ Pancake Breakfast launches Saturday’s activities, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in the Overwaitea parking lot.
The Coal Miner Days Parade starts at 11 a.m.
Saturday concludes with the Coal Miner Days cabaret, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Curling Rink.

Sunday will see continuation and conclusion of the Slo Pitch Tournament and the running of the EKC Sparwood Classic (5 o 8 k run and walk), starting at 10 a.m. at the Rec Centre.
A four-hour Focus on Families activities section begins at noon at the Curling Rink/Rec Centre.
At 11 a.m. the Coal Miner Cup Ball Hockey Tournament concludes at the arena and the second annual Youth Duathlon begins at noon at the Rec Centre soccer field.
Refreshment gardens are being held at the Rec Centre tennis courts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gardens go from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday evening.
