Island Lake Resort opens for season June 13
One of the most unique and authentic places to stay in Canada has plenty on the go this season.
Island Lake, named “One of the most unique and authentic places to stay in Canada” by National Geographic Traveler Magazine, re-opens for the season on June 13.
And on Sunday, June 15, the resort is hosting a Father’s Day Brunch, with three seatings: at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. (Adults – $34.95; kids $14.95 -reservations required).
That’s just the start for the beautiful high country escape, located 15 km from Fernie. Turn left off Highway 3 and travel through Mount Fernie Provincial Park campground, then follow the road for approximately 12 km until you reach the lodges.
“Along with world class hiking, dining and full spa, we will have new dinner and lunch menus and new spa treatments and products,” reported Mike McPhee, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Island Lake Resort Group.
“Island Lake is also excited to be the only spa in Fernie to offer the OPI Gel Lacquer system. OPI Gel Lacquer is a soak off gel manicure or pedicure that will last more than two weeks,” McPhee said, adding, “New for summer 2014, Island Lake will be an exclusive carrier of YonKa skin care products. YonKa is a skin care line from France that has been perfecting the science skin care for 50 years, featuring an exclusive formula combining five essential oils from the Mediterranean with extraordinary synergetic properties. YonKa is proud to provide total traceability of each of its products, and only selects plants that are derived from renewable resources and organic farming.”
Specials will available during the week, including Treat Yourself Tuesdays (Enjoy $25 off any facial treatments) and Wellness Wednesday (20% off any body treatment).
Other weekly events running all summer include Date Night Mondays. Bring your partner up for a romantic dinner! Get two entrées, two glasses of bubbly and an appetizer or dessert to share for just $75 per couple.
Or try Wine Tasting Wednesday, with a five-course tasting menu with five wines. Each Wednesday Island Lake will feature a new and old world wine from their diverse cellar.
Lunch is served on the spectacular Bear Lodge Patio from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. And dinner is served in the Ancient Timbers Dining Room from 5 – 9 p.m.
Walking hand-in-hand with fine dining and spa time, Island Lake Lodge is renowned for world-class hiking, thanks to being surrounded by some of the most scenic and well-maintained hiking trails in the Elk Valley.
Hikes range from easy one hour walks to all day adventure hikes; there is something for everyone. Wildflowers, mountain streams, fossils, interesting geography and a unique ecosystem are all part of the Island Lake experience.
If rambling around the wild Rockies on your lonesome isn’t your cup of tea but you still want to experience it – no problem.
“We offer guided hiking,” McPhee points out, including a half day Interpretive Hike ($20 per person – minimum two people) and a Full Day Hike ($99 per person – minimum two people).
