It’s all about the handling, baby!
Kimberley Alpine Resort was lit up by shiny mechanical beauties June 28 when several chapters of the Old English Car Club arrived as part of their Round B.C. Tour.
Resort guests and folks from around the region popped by to take in the collection of automotive classics, which as one club member noted, are all about handling and cornering as opposed to power and speed.
All the show participants were from the club branches on Vancouver Island, (South, Central and North), Vancouver and Kamloops.
A total of 27 cars are taking part in the tour, including MG, Triumph, Sunbeam, Rover, Austin-Healey, Morris, Lotus and Morgan. The newest was a 1984 Lotus Super 7 and the oldest a 1954 Austin-Healey, with the rest from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
According to information on skikimberley.com the Old English Car Club was formed in 1988 in the Okanagan with the first All-British Meet taking place in Penticton in 1990. One of the aims of the club is the preservation and enjoyment of ‘Old’ English Cars. What better way to enjoy a car one has restored or preserved than to take it on a drive with like-minded friends, and so the first Brits ‘Round BC Tour took place in 2005, the idea being to visit all the branches.
The Round B.C. Tour takes place every two years.
