Kimberley’s 41st JulyFest Parade
For the 41st time, downtown Kimberley came alive with the sounds of sirens, horns and shouts Saturday, July 20 during the JulyFest Homecoming Parade.
Selkirk Secondary School grad reunion classes from 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993 and 2003 added plenty of faces to the colourful and lively procession – with Cranbrook’s always popular float capturing first prize.
Downtown Kimberley was lined with families, friends, neighbours and bocce teams, all sporting broad smiles with most (adults) wearing sunglasses to ward off the evils welcomed to their skulls from the previous evening’s celebrations.
Kimberley’s busiest weekend of the year, JulyFest’s feature event – the Canadian Bocce Championship featured over 200 teams. In addition, revelers were treated to a rockin’ show by 54*40 at the Saturday Night Dance Party.
The sporting aura of the weekend was also bookended by the Invitational Soccer Tournament and Sunday’s Extreme Skateboard Race.
