The expression on this ewe seemed to say,  “So you tell me how I’m to get off this road” or “Can you direct me to Valley Hair Styling?” In any case bighorn sheep can be quite scruffy looking at this time of year.

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep survive the bitter wind chilling winters by having a thick double-layered coat of hair. This insulation of course is not needed in summer. So every June/July their grayish winter coats are shed giving them a scruffy appearance with patches of matted hair until the new brown coat of summer grows in.
