One of the greatest things about living in the East Kootenay is the countryside we too often take for granted as the hustle and bustle in our daily lives takes over.

However, once we can get out and enjoy the place, whether we’re living in the Columbia Valley, Cranbrook/Kimberley Central Sub-region or the Elk Valley, there is not shortage of amazing places to visit for a getaway and strong reminder of how great we’ve got it.

This week we took a few moments to head down to Moyie Lake Provincial Park, west of Cranbrook. Thanks to less-than-fabulous summer weather, thus far, the lakeside park was barely being used.

However, those who were there were making the most of it, including this couple who used one another for a relaxing read in the occasional bursts of sunshine.
