Parker’s Nature
It’s a wildlife time of year!
As the lingering heat of summer begins to rise away from the valley bottoms in the Rockies and Purcells, as well as the Columbia Trench, wildlife begins to return to prepare for the long winter ahead.
Spotting wildlife such as moose and black bear, as Kimberley-based photographer Shawn Parker has recently done, and bagged them with his trusty camera, becomes more common.
Remember to be wary of wildlife at this time of year, especially bears, as they are in ‘major munch mode’ to fatten up for hibernation, and be Bear Aware so as not to provide temptations for our wild neighbours to roam into our towns and end up on the wrong end of a Conservation Officer visit.
As for moose – enjoy watching them as Shawn did – with a telephoto lens or binoculars.
