Sept 10/2012 Radium pools closed Sunday due to Alaska earthquake activity
The Radium Hot Springs Pools were closed Sunday, Sept 9 due to a deposit of silt in the Hot Pool.
Kootenay National Park officials believe this was likely a result of earthquake activity in Alaska, which ties into fault lines connected to the Rocky Mountains along the Columbia River Trench.
The silt affected the clarity of the pool water and hot pool staff had to drain and clean the pool.
As of this morning (Monday, Sept. 10) the pools are re-opened.
“All our pools are now clear and ready for the public,” stated Steve Pratt, Radium Hot Springs manager.
