Sparwood celebrates with Coal Miner Days
The District of Sparwood celebrated with its biggest party weekend of the year June 7 to 9 with Coal Miner Days 2013.
The town was alive with family-fun events, a baseball and ball hockey tourney (Coal Miner’s Cup), live entertainment, cabaret, oodles of kids’ games, magic, reptiles, the delicious Teck Coal barbecue (by donation), pancake breakfasts and much, much more.
Saturday, June 8 began with a pancake breakfast and then things really hit the sirens when the annual parade wound through the downtown to the Civic Centre, where a carnival of fun and food awaited.
East Kootenay News Online Weekly (e-KNOW) attended beautiful Saturday morning/afternoon festivities with three cameras-a-clickin’. The following are some of the results.
