Spilli Chilli Cookoff June 1
The Spilli Chilli Cookoff returns to Spillimacheen on June 1.
The long-running annual event feature a few changes this year, including a change to the site set-up, the addition of an artisan craft and food market, a cash prize for the People’s Choice Award for the best chili, a beverage garden and more.

Thanks to government rules, there is another wrinkle to this year’s event.
Interior Health considers the event a ‘mass gathering’ and therefor all food must be cooked prior to the event in an IH-approved kitchen and temperature controlled to the site.
Event organizers are not letting that get that down. Cooking competition organizer Lara McCormack stated, “chili is always better the next day anyways!
“We ask that you make approximately 150 x 1oz. portions – we will provide you with tasting cups and spoons on site. Bring your own tent, table and create a set up to market your chili/business. The tastings will go from approx. Noon – 2 p.m. depending on weather/people, etc., with a goal to announce the winner around 3 p.m.,” McCormack said in a recent Windermere Community Association newsletter.
