We saw this heron just in time to see him fly off. I jumped out of the truck and ripped off a couple quick shots, but I was nowhere near ready. I try to learn something from every missed opportunity. Lesson learned here: WALK don’t drive. I doubt if this was the first time I’ve been burned by not walking, but it was undoubtedly the most golden opportunity I’ve blown. The heron did land a few minutes later, but you know how far a heron can fly in a couple minutes?
