Five ways to improve your home value

Paint

I cannot stress how much a fresh coat of paint can change the appeal of a room. Especially if what you currently have is lagging behind in a time long, long ago. When a prospective buyer walks into a beautifully updated room it will make them more willing to part with those dollar signs.

Landscape

Curb appeal should never be underestimated. It’s the first thing you notice when viewing a home and has the potential to make those buyers drool. It doesn’t have to be difficult either. Have a drive around town to see what other people are doing or check out a free landscaping guide at the local hardware store. If the inspiration still doesn’t strike you then hire a company to fix your yard for you…You’ll be glad you did.

Update your appliances

There’s no greater thrill when walking into your potential kitchen and beholding the Holy Grail… new appliances (be still my beating heart!). You don’t have to break the bank by going top of the line either. Just some sharp, new, preferably energy efficient eye catchers will be enough to entice prospective homebuyers. And in the meantime you get to enjoy them!

New fixtures

This is a fairly easy way to bump your value. Try switching out some of your older light and/or tap fixtures. You would be surprised how much this can class up a room and it can all be done in a day. They are great for drawing the eye and highlighting the new while detracting from the old.

Popcorn be gone

The days of the attractive popcorn ceilings are long gone. Yet a lot of us are still stuck staring up at our outdated ceilings with disgust. But do not despair because it’s easier to get rid of it then you might think. You can buy a solution from the hardware store that will soften it up then all you have to do it scrape, scrape, scrape it away! Then throw up a fresh layer of paint and voila; a ceiling that will make you swoon instead of sigh.
