GROW Community Garden plots open

By Gail Brown

Is your green thumb itching to get into a garden?Ā The GROW Community Garden has several plots available this year for a small rental fee of $20 to $30 for the year. It is located next to the Catholic Church on 14th Avenue and 13th Street.

GROW Community GardenĀ is a cooperative garden with 40 plots rented to gardeners who wish to grow their own vegetables.Ā It offers shared gardening tools and lots of free gardening advice!Ā This could be your chance to garden and grow your own veggies.Ā It is unusual that there are plots available, as most gardeners retain their plots for many years!

GROWGROW garden members cooperate at a monthly work bee to help keep the garden areas around the plots tidy, mowed and weeded. In return, the GROW Community Garden supplies a wonderful growing site that is fenced and secure. The land is donated by the Catholic Church for this purpose and has been operating for many years.

GROW Community Garden invites you to join us in our 2015 summer season of tilling, planting weeding, watering and harvesting your fresh, home-grown vegetables in your own plot!Ā  If you are interested in growing veggies this summer, email Gail at [email protected].

For anyone thinking about taking part, here is a head start on knowing a bit more about with is required from participants.
