To oust Harper, don’t waste votes

Letter to Editor

On Sept. 25, Nanos, a polling company, published the following results of a poll in the Kootenay-Columbia riding:

Conservatives: 37%

NDP: 37%

Liberal: 15%

Green: 11%

With our first past the post system, the contest to elect our Member of Parliament is a race between the Conservatives and the NDP. Ten extra votes for either will mean that person will go to Ottawa.

Those committed to consigning the Harper regime to the dustbin of history, who are inclined to vote Liberal or Green, must know that casting a vote for their party is essentially a vote for the Conservatives.

While the candidates for both the Liberal and Greens are admirable people, a vote for either will not result in their election. To defeat the Stephen Harper regime, Mr. Wilks must be defeated and all opposed to the Harper regime must vote for the person most likely to defeat Mr. Wilks. The NDP candidate, Wayne Stetski, is that person.

Gary Mac Donald,
