Ice fans ‘Shoot for the Star’ lights No. 9

East Kootenay Foundation for Health is proud to announce the success of Kootenay Ice’s Drew Czerwonka, Max Reinhart and Jesse Ismond’s ‘Shoot for the Star.’ Donations of over $5,198 have been received, enough to help light the ninth star atop the roofline at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Thanks to their families, billets, friends, and a whole bunch of local Kootenay ICE fans; the three were able to encourage donations for the digital stereotactic mammography fund as part of EKFH’s annual Starlite Campaign for Excellence in Health Care.

Drew, Max and Jesse aren’t stopping here; the trio is also part of the fundraising effort of the Bedroom Furniture Galleries who are also aiming to light their own star through sales of their Bedroom Curly Critters (available at Friday’s home game with a $20 donation).

Drew shares, “We’ve also made calls into some of our old “Run for the Mem Cup” guys to see if they would consider donating their current jersey for a silent auction we are planning for in the New Year. It’s pretty cool because we already have ones coming from Fraz (Matt Fraser now with the Texas Stars) Brayden McNab (Buffalo Sabres), Cody Eakins (Washington Capitals), Kinger (Kevin King – Syracuse Crunch) and James (Martin – Abbotsford Heat)!”

EKFH would like to thank the Kootenay ICE organization, Drew, Max and Jesse for their time and commitment to health care in the East Kootenay. On behalf of all of us… Merry Christmas and thank you for bringing “Stars” to light.
