Canal Days this weekend

The Village of Canal Flats will be springing to life this weekend when its largest community event of the year takes place.

Canal Days Rachel Kyla MelissaCanal Days 2016 runs June 2-4, beginning Thursday night with bingo at 7 p.m. to youth bingo Friday at 5:30 to a Saturday jammed full of family fun and later-in-the-evening frolicking.

Things get rolling June 4 with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the 11 a.m. parade.

The annual baseball tourney, the beverage garden, concession stand, raffles, a multitude of kids’ games and the always-popular CU Express Train get rolling at noon.

Canal Days Ball3Columbia Valley RCMP’s ‘Cram the Cruiser’ for the food bank will be collecting donations along the parade route and after at the back of the hall.

Your kids may want to check out the Lego Contest with three age groups (6 and under; 7 to 13 ; 14 to 18) with a whopping $50 prize awarded to the best in each group.

Music will get going at 1 p.m. with the valley’s own Marty Beingessner and his sweet blend of vocal and guitar playing talents leading the way.

Canal Days10And the day is capped by a steak dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. and the Canal Days Dance from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. with live music by Cranbrook’s Steel Wheels.
