Storytime returns to library Sept. 14

By Mike Selby

Cranbrook Public Library

There are no new arrivals this week at the Cranbrook Public Library due to the long weekend, but we have all kinds of events happening.

Cranbrook Public LibraryToddler and Preschool Storytime returns the week of September 14. There will also be a brand new program just for babies in the near future. Stay tuned for more information.

Preparations are underway by the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library and the Sunrise Rotary Club for the Fall Book Sale.

This event will be held at the Ktunaxa Nation Gym from Wednesday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Oct. 2. There is still time to bring in your donation for this sale. Items must be in good condition.  Please bring books, DVDs, CDs, videos and books on tape to the front circulation desk in the library. At this time, we can’t accept encyclopedias or National Geographic magazines. However, we especially appreciate pocket books.

Artistic Connections for Teens tales place on Saturday, September 14, 3:30 –6 p.m. in the Manual Training Room. Explore your creative side with local artist Taryn King as she instructs participants how to make fantastic 3-D geometric art. Snacks and materials will be provided. Cost is free.

FREE one-on-one tech training session for those of you who want to enhance your current computing skills. We cover many topics including Basic Tablet usage, Basic Computer usage, Windows 10 training, Window 8 + 8.1 training, Window 7 training, Microsoft Suit training, Library E book training, and much more. To register, please contact the Library at (250) 426-4063, or sign up at the front desk.

On display this month is the massive 1948 fire insurance map of Cranbrook, courtesy of the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History. Accompanied by blown-up photographs, come see just how much has changed and how much has not in past 70 years.
