City rebates still available
The City of Cranbrook is reporting that residents continue to take advantage of two rebate programs for trees and low flow toilets this summer.
According to Chris Zettel, Corporate Communications Officer, as of August 2, only 22 rebates of $50 each on trees remain available and only 100 rebates of $50 on low flow toilet fixtures remain.
“We are really pleased to see our residents taking advantage of these rebates. Each of these incentives provides our residents opportunities to help us, as a community reduce our overall water use and decrease our carbon footprint and improve our community green space,” said Zettel.
The Community Tree Planting rebate program launched in mid April 2011 with only 100 available rebates; the Low Flow Toilet program started 2011 with 200 available rebates. The City also issued 200 rebates in 2010.
Council made $5,000 in funding available to the tree rebate program and $10,000 for the 2011 low flow toilets. There is a lifetime maximum of two $50 rebates per residence per program. Submitting an application for either rebate program does not necessarily guarantee a rebate – as each application is evaluated and processed by staff on a first come, first served basis.
“Residents who are still considering either rebate program are encouraged to act sooner than later, as these rebates will disappear quickly. The turnaround time from us receiving an application to us issuing the rebate is not much more than a couple of days. These are both two very good programs,” Zettel said.
“Application forms and information packages for the Low Flow Toilet Rebate and the Community Tree Planting Rebate are available for download from the city’s website at www.cranbrook.ca or by stopping by reception at city hall during regular business hours.
