Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Oct. 17 to 6 a.m., Oct. 24.
Police handled 144 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driver – alcohol.
Three collisions – all in town. One incident resulted in a driver being charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
13 Mental Health Act calls – six apprehended.
Six assault complaints: three domestic in nature with arrests made in two of three domestic incidents.
13 thefts reported: two shoplifting; one theft of a bicycle from Western Financial Place; two complaints of Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent – one was unfounded/ the other was a rental car that was simply disabled remotely; a theft of an excavator – 304C Cat Mini Hoe Excavator stolen from Mayook area sometime between October 14 and October 20; three thefts from vehicles – nothing of significance stolen; and four other thefts, including a theft of a backpack, recovered, one possible theft of gas, one gas and dash and a theft of wallets from Memorial Arena change room while players on the ice.
Two Break and Enters to business: Kootenay Landscape yard broken into where five hedge Husquvarna Hedge Trimmers were taken as well as fuel. And the Shanti Day Spa was broken into. Some equipment, various cleaning supplies as well as several jars of jam were taken.
Five reports of property damage: two related to the above noted assault files; one unfounded/ one where a vehicle with the sunroof open had bear spray deployed inside it.
13 false alarms/ false 911 complaints
Three persons arrested for intoxication in public place.
