In the early morning hours of Thursday, November 10, 2016, Donald Lloyd Olderness passed away at the Kimberley Special Care Home at the age of 66 years.  Don was born in Kimberley on May 20, 1950 to Rolf and Rita (Wilson) Olderness.

Don loved all sports.  There wasn’t a game involving a puck or a ball that he didn’t play, ref or ump.  He was also a damn good bridge player too!   Don was a happy man and it was a pleasure to be with him.  He will be missed by all!!

Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 25 years, Gwen; his step-son Jeff Krueger (Janice) of Denver, Colorado; his brother Neil (Terri) Olderness of Kimberley one niece, Michelle (Mike) Ridler and one great-nephew, Nathan of Cranbrook; his extended family of  Glady & Stan Unhryn of Logan Lake.  Don was predeceased by his parents, Rolf in 1973 and Rita in 2014.

Don lived in Marysville all his life, except for one year in Victoria, playing for the University of Victoria Cougars. Upon the death of his father, he returned to Marysville and found work with Cominco. When Crestbrook opened, he changed companies and spent 32 yrs working in  the plant as a Steam Engineer.

Don was a familiar face at the golf course, at the ball diamond , at the rink, and the 3pm meetings at the Sully.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at the Kimberley Elks Hall, 240 Howard St., Kimberley on Wednesday, November 16 2016 from 2 – 4  pm.
