Two hurt in head-on crash east of Wardner Bridge
A head-on collision on Highway 3/95 east of the Wardner Bridge at about 6:30 p.m. last night is under investigation by Cranbrook RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services.
Cranbrook RCMP was called to a motor vehicle collision and the Jaffray Fire Department, Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services and BC Ambulance also attended.
One of the vehicles lost control and came into the path of the other pickup truck. A black pickup truck was towing a trailer full of quads and sleds according to witnesses who arrived on the scene first. The other pickup truck received extensive damage to the front passenger side.
Emergency crews took over an hour to extricate the driver of a burgundy pickup truck who received critical injuries from the crash who was later transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
The occupant of the black truck received non-life threatening injuries. The highway was closed to regular traffic and a detour was routed through Rosicky Road.
“The investigation is currently underway and the cause of the collision is yet to be determined. The Cranbrook RCMP advises drivers to be mindful of the winter driving conditions and adjust their driving accordingly,” said Cpl. Mitch Mercier.
