Region has farmers’ market variety

The East Kootenay is fortunate to have a variety of excellent farmers’ markets.

A wealth of talent exists in this region and there is no better place to see it and experience it than at the five farmers’ markets that run through the summer.

Organic produce and fruit, art, crafts, information, entertainment, a wide range of delicious temptations, crafts and plenty more await at each market.

Cranbrook Farmers’ Market – Opened this past Saturday, June 25 and runs each Saturday until Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is held on 10th Ave. S, between 1st and 2nd St. S (next to Rotary Park).

Fernie Mountain Market – Begins July 1 and runs every Sunday until Labour Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rotary Park. There is also a Wednesday Evening Market each week in July and August from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Fernie, near The Arts Station.

Invermere Farmers’ Market – Season began on June 16 and it runs every Saturday until Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is held in downtown Invermere.

Jaffray-Baynes Lake Farmers’ Market – It opened June 16 and runs ever Saturday until September 1 from 9 a.m. to 12:30p.m. at the Baynes Lake Community Hall. This is the 22nd year for this expansive and colourful market.

Kimberley Village Market – The Village Market begins its second season at the Lions Park beside the Marysville Arena. Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
