Obituary for Ailsa Margaret Craig

Craig, Ailsa Margaret (nee Munn)

Mar 13, 1923 – Jan 7, 2017

Ailsa passed away peacefully at Swan Valley Lodge, Creston B.C.with her daughters by her side.Beginning with the fall that fractured her neck on December 31, 2015 she had a very difficult year, but until the end she maintained her sense of humor and her sense of style.
She was born in Saskatchewan and as a young teenager moved with her family to  Rossland, B.C. After her high school graduation the family moved to Edmonton where she attended secretarial school. This gave her the skill to work for CP Airlines where she became one of the first “Stewardesses” in Canada not to be a registered nurse.

She married in 1949 and moved to Northern Canada living in a variety of communities. She had her daughters while living in the north. The family moved to Calgary in 1957 where she remained until moving to Creston, BC in 2008.

Even though she worked until she was 85, Ailsa enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Health was very important to her and she participated in two five year Breast Cancer drug trials even though she didn’t have the disease and there was no family history of it.

In Creston she sang with Happy Voices, volunteered at New Life Furniture and was part of the Auxiliary at Crestview Village.

Ailsa was the last of her generation in her family. We attribute it to those great Scottish genes.

She is survived by her daughters Lynn(Arnold) grandchildren Eric, Craig, Kirstin and Heather, and great grandchildren Micheal, Dominic, Erica, Jo-el and Farrah. Barb(Brent) grandchildren Graeme(Kara) and Caylin(Deryk) and great grandchildren Aksel, Malena, Autumn, Niels and Beckett. As well, she also had Many nieces and nephews, great neices and nephews and even a few great great nieces and nephews.

A family memorial service will be held in Hatzic B.C. At a later date.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Swan Vally Lodge Recreation Program.
