Drunk woman faces drug trafficking charge

Almost two pounds of marijuana and over $1,000 cash were seized after a woman was arrested for being drunk early Saturday morning.

A Kimberley RCMP officer was advised by a citizen around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 21 of a drunk female unable to care for herself.

The officer located the female a few blocks away showing strong signs of alcohol consumption. He arrested her for being drunk in a public place. For her own safety she was transported and lodged into cells.

A search subsequent to arrest located the almost two pounds of marijuana, some of which was packaged in smaller quantities for distribution. Along with the marijuana was over $1,000 cash.

Given the evidence police will be recommending charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, reported Sgt. Chris Newel, Kimberley RCMP Detachment Commander.

A 46-year old female from Kimberley will be attending court in April.
