Denzel Stuart CLOSS

April 12, 1946 – February 23, 2017

On February 23, 2017, Denzel Stuart Closs passed away suddenly at his home. “Dennie” was born in Fernie, BC on April 12, 1946.

Dennie is survived by his aunt Margaret Nuyts of Campbell River, BC as well as several cousins and many old friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Theresa Closs, his brother Douglas, father Stuart Closs, his step-mother Ruth Closs, cousins Shelly Wolfe, Gloria Jean Perley, Debbie Lucas, and Dale Lucas and most recently by his best friend and companion, his beloved dog Honey.

Dennie’s life, both work and play, was spent outside. He operated heavy machinery for much of his life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a heck of a cook. He loved spending time in Newgate whenever the opportunity arose. Dennie was a colorful character; he had a great sense of humor and was always teasing or telling stories. He loved watching the Comedy Network, and Big Bang Theory was his favorite TV show. Although Dennie tried to make himself out to be a cantankerous, grumpy old man – those who knew him also knew that his gruff exterior was just a disguise to the soft-hearted man they all knew and loved.
