A ruptured water main late Saturday morning near Westlawn Cemetery in Cranbrook is the cause of a flush of dirty water appearing in some residents’ taps today.

Staff with City of Cranbrook Public Works’ Waterworks advise that the situation is now under control, but the large flush of water through the lines kicked up sediment making the water appear dirty.

The dirty water is not considered a health hazard. Residents are asked to simply run their cold water taps until the water runs clear, the city stated.
