Charges for two as stolen property recovered

On July 24, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP members with the Crime Reduction and General Duty Units were conducting checks in the area of 700 Patterson Street in Cranbrook. One officer noticed a white pick up truck pulling a trailer with a skid steer in the area and pulled the vehicle over. The officers conducted their investigation resulting in the male and female occupants being arrested for a variety of offences.

The 25-year-old male is facing two charges of possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited and Motor Vehicle Act offences resulting in his vehicle being impounded for seven days. The 26-year-old female is facing charges for possession of stolen property as well as possession of various weapons and ammunition contrary to conditions she was bound on for other charges not related to this incident.

Police recovered the trailer, skid steer which were allegedly stolen out of the Castlegar area. Both suspects are not from Cranbrook. The female was released on conditions and the male was held for a bail hearing.

“This is an example of the proactive work and effort being done by members of your Cranbrook RCMP Detachment in continuing to make this area as safe as possible for all community members,” said S/Sgt. Hector Lee of Cranbrook RCMP.
