HOPKINS:
Donald Robert Hopkins (Pops) passed away at the age of 83 in Fernie on July 15, 2017.

Don leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Ruth. He is survived by his sister Brenda Fillmore (Bliss); 5 children: Dawn, Jim (Debbie), Steve (Jackie), Tom (Kim) and Sherry (Kirby); 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Don was predeceased by both his parents, his brother Sonny, and sister Norma.

Born in Sackville, NB on August 29, 1933, he served four years in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1950’s, before marrying Ruth Davidson on June 5, 1954. Don was employed as a welder working in various mines, foundries and construction projects across Canada and served as a strong union leader before joining management. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and supporter of minor hockey. Don cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren…and beagles! He will be remembered by the many, many, many lives that he touched.
