Partnership aims to create positive experiences

The Kootenay ICE has announced a partnership with the Green Bay Committee whose focus is to create opportunities for students and adults who may not normally have the opportunity to attend ICE home games.

The partnership reflects the collective will of a volunteer group that is aligned in both short and long-term goals with the ICE.

The Green Bay Committee, led by Allan Rella and Bre Tironese, recognize the social and economic benefits that the ICE delivers through community engagement and collective ownership from all stakeholders. The Green Bay Committee believes that the ICE share similar values and are excited to extend opportunities to the community to create positive experiences for all community members.

“The ICE share the same values as the Green Bay Committee and we believe that the team is a source of pride and something that everyone in the community benefits from,” said Allan Rella, founder of the Green Bay Committee.  “Creating positive experiences is something that the ICE represent and we want to provide this opportunity for all community members.”

During the campaign the Green Bay Committee will engage local businesses to fund blocks of tickets that will be distributed to schools and community organizations in Cranbrook and other East Kootenay communities. The ICE are excited to create this opportunity for as many students and adults as possible to gather with the community at home games.

The ICE have launched programs during the 2017-2018 season through community donations that include Reading with the ICE, Cracknell Student of the Game, Minor Hockey Team of The Game, Classroom of the Game, and Youth Community Group of the Game and believe this partnership will significantly help increase community engagement.

“We have said from the outset that our collective success will come from the community taking ownership of what the ICE means to the East Kootenay and participation in shaping the direction of the team,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager.  “The Green Bay Committee is taking a leadership position to increase participation, and at the same time, focus on students and other community members.  We have invested significant resources in generating opportunity for all community members and are excited to work together with the Green Bay Committee to further that effort.”

The next home game for the ICE is Friday, November 10, 2017 against the Prince Albert Raiders. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. If you would like to participate in the reach out program, contact the ICE Gear Store at 250-417-0322 or email [email protected].
