10th Starlite Campaign now underway

The East Kootenay Foundation for Heath’s (EKFH) 10th annual Starlite Campaign is underway and donations are currently being accepted.

The EKFH Starlite campaign is our holiday fundraising drive running from Nov. 1 to Dec 31, where donations will help to light stars on top of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. This year’s theme is Starlite, Star bright, as the Foundation is focusing on making the wishes come true for the equipment needs in our region. The focus is to raise funds for the smaller items that make the biggest difference in health care. The goal for the Starlite this year is $200,000.

The EKFH assists in funding the entire East Kootenay Hospital District, which encompasses five hospitals, five long term care homes, and numerous community health care centres located in Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford, Invermere, and Golden.

Currently there is a $3 million gap in funding which extends through every facility in our region. The reality is that the existing resources do not cover all of the needs in the East Kootenay, resulting in lack of up-to-date, life-changing equipment. Through generous donors, EKFH has helped fund important medical equipment, including the ICU and the permanent MRI. But there are still a number of lower-priced items that the region’s health care centres need.

Examples are: the Invermere Community Care Nursing needing a temporal thermometer valued at $670.00. Or the Kimberley Primary Care Program needing a blood pressure monitor valued at $2800. Or the EK Regional Hospital needs IV pumps valued at $5000 each. The list is extensive and the Foundation needs your help. For more information on the items that are needed and the costs please call the EKFH at 1-877-489-6481.

Donors can direct their funds to a certain community and that is where their fund the much needed equipment. Spread the word, donate and become a champion donation will help for health care in the East Kootenay! To light a large star is $5000 and a small star is $2,500. All donations of every size make a huge difference and will accumulate to light a “community star” to help us reach our goal. Together we can change lives!

To make your holiday Starlite gift please contact the EKFH office at 1-877-489-6481 or donate online at ekfh.ca.
