Middletown construction to get underway

The District of Sparwood awarded the contract for Middletown Crossing Highway 3/43 Intersection Improvements in December 2017 to Projex Infrastructure Limited. The project was made possible with grant funding from both the federal and provincial governments from the New Building Canada – Small Communities Fund (NBC-SMF).

Projex have finished the bulk of their construction equipment mobilization and are gearing up to begin earthworks on the southwest portion of the site in April. It is anticipated that the earthworks for the southwest portion will be finished by the end of April.

Other work that will be carried out at the same time include underground water and sewer piping, traffic control and crushing (which is scheduled to continue into May).

Watch for vehicles entering the site and expect see some dust (if the snow ever melts) and to hear noise emanating from the site.

The Engineering Department has created a project page on the District of Sparwood website, which has a project map, status report as well as a Q&A sheet and construction updates. These will all be kept updated throughout the construction of the project.
