Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) May 21 to 6 a.m., May 28.
Police handled 165 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driving: (drug).
Five collisions in the city: Including a cyclist hit riding the wrong way on the sidewalk, no injuries; one collision between two vehicles in a parking lot where a nearby pedestrian sustained minor injuries; parking lot collision between two vehicles which resulted in an impaired investigation involving a drug, no injuries; two vehicle collision while merging, no injuries; two vehicle collision resulting in minor injury.
One collision outside the city: A two vehicle collision resulting in one of the parties being charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Six assaults: Including one domestic assault with one person arrested; one unfounded/ drug related assault on male by three males who were arrested; an assault of hospital staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) where male was arrested and charged; an assault at a local establishment where the victim was sucker punched; and a fight between parties known to each other at a local establishment.
10 Mental Health Act related calls: one apprehension and three assist EKRH.
10 thefts.
One shoplifting.
Five thefts from autos: Including an attempted theft from a vehicle where a male and female suspects were scared off by the owner; theft of sunglasses where the driver window was smashed out; theft of purse that was left in unlocked vehicle; theft of an iPod from an unlocked vehicle; and a theft of a set of license plates off a vehicle.
Four thefts other: Including a theft of wallet; theft of tires from storage locker; internal theft at local business; property stolen from local hotel by guests.
Two break and enters to residences: One occurred at night time where suspect stole electronics and coins; and three suspects arrested for break and enter as well as other offences, possibly drug related, with three suspects from out of province.
One break and enter other: A theft of baseball equipment from Confederation Park facility.
Five damage to property: Including males kicking in door, which was unfounded; two vehicle windows smashed; a vehicle dented by a suspect punching it; and guests causing damage at local hotel.
One drug seizure: (marijuana).
17 false alarms and false 911 calls.
