Fire destroys Sparwood Heights apartment
A fire last night has destroyed a Sparwood Heights apartment building.
At about 9:30 p.m. August 9, Sparwood Fire Department responded to a fire call at Building B of Ponderosa Manor apartments.
The District of Sparwood reported shortly after that a reception centre had been set up at the Recreation Centre (367 Pine Avenue) for all people affected by the fire. Sparwood Public Works and Search and Rescue vehicles shuttled people from the Heights to the Rec Centre and a bus was also made available.
All those affected by the fire are asked to check in with Emergency Social Services at the Rec Centre so that they know you are safe and everyone is accounted for.
It is unknown at this point if there were any injuries from the fire.
More details are expected to be released this morning.
