Here’s what’s happening at the Fernie Heritage Library in September.

Family Programming

Storytime (Ages 3-5 years)

Tuesdays 11:15am-11:45am

Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Toddlertime (Ages 0-2 years)

Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15am-11:45 am

Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.

Senior Storytime for all ages with seniors and local preschool/ Kindy Children  (drop in).

Rocky Mountain Village Serenity Room: Wed, Sept 12 at 1 p.m.

Trinity Lodge: Wed, Sept 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Community Seniors and children welcome to attend!

Fall Registration Fair:  Wed. & Thurs September 5 & 6 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Community Centre. Come find us at the fair to chat and to see what library programs interest you!

Children’s Activities for Grades 1-6    

Wednesdays  3:45 -4:45 p.m. Lego Town (ages 7+) September 12-October 3.

We are building a Lego town complete with all our favourite parks, places, shops and amenities. MUST REGISTER ON EVENTBRITE TO ATTEND (see “September Lego Town”)

Thursdays 3:45 -4:45 pm  Tech Petting Zoo (ages 10+) September 13-October 4.

Meet some of the new technology at the library and discover cool ways to use coding at this learner and play-driven afterschool program. Limited spaces: MUST REGISTER  ON EVENTBRITE TO ATTEND (“Tech Petting Zoo”) 

FUN FRIDAY Friday, September 21 – 4-5:30 p.m. Popcorn provided.

“What I did on my Summer Vacation” Slide Show.  Email us five photos of your summer fun (by Wed. Sept 19), then join us for our community slide show with your stories.  All are welcome to attend-children under seven must be supervised by a responsible caregiver.

Tweens and Teens

Tuesdays: 3:45-4:45 p.m. Kindness Committee: Calling all teens who want to play a more active role in our town though volunteering. Drop-in for grade 7+; snack provided. This program is in collaboration with the Fernie Youth Action Network. Begins Tuesday, Sept 18.

Adult Programming

Walkie Talkie Book Club

An outdoor, walking book club on the second Wednesday of the month from 10-11 a.m. We meet at the library front steps and walk along along the river path and chat as we go.

Join us for an autumn kick-off walk and chat on Wednesday, September 12 at 10 a.m.

Tea and Talk Book Club: Friday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m.

Knit Clique

Drop-In gathering for all who enjoy a yarny endeavour in good company. Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on the main floor couch.

Lunch and Learn: Fernie at War: Friday, September 14 at 12-1 p.m. (As a part of the Fernie Chatauqua) Join us for lunch (soup, sandwich, tea/coffee, dessert) and author Wayne Norton explores what it meant to live in Fernie during those confusing and divisive years of Fernie during WW1. Tickets available on Eventbrite.

All-Ages Programming

Old Time Music Jam and Fishing Stories: (as part of Gillbilly 2018) Saturday, September 29 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand: old time and bluegrass jam and maybe even a few fish tales. BYI and BYS (Bring Your Instrument and Bring Your Story). All are welcome.

UKE 101: Thursday, September 20, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Music Builds Brain Power: a free, one-hour beginner workshop to begin honing your ukulele prowess. Ukuleles are available for use during the workshop and for sign out after the event. MUST REGISTER on eventbrite TO ATTEND. Limited spaces: (Eventbrite: Uke 101 SEPT)
